Join Glenn and Dave as they endure the pain of watching the Superman franchise start to turn from epic to possibly-not-so-epic, as Richard Lester directs what is essentially a lacklustre Richard Pryor movie.

Obituary: Elisabeth Sladen (1 February 1948 - 19 April 2011)

It is with great sadness that we have to report the passing of Elisabeth Sladen, best known to all as the character Sarah Jane Smith in both Doctor Who and more recently The Sarah Jane Adventures.

Originally from Liverpool, Lis' first on screen (although uncredited) role was in the 1964 film 'Ferry Cross the Mersey', as an extra. Television roles soon followed after repertory work, and she appeared in such programmes as Doomwatch, Z-Cars, Public Eye, Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em and Special Branch.

In 1973 though, she was to star as the latest Doctor Who companion Sarah Jane Smith, and this would be the role that made her well known and liked by the British public. Often citied as the most popular of the Doctor's assistants, Sarah was plucky, sweet, sassy and often more than a match for the Time Lord. Her chemistry with Tom Baker was obvious, and this only served to endear her more to fans of all ages.

After leaving Who, she starred in a number of plays and television roles over the years, but returned to Sarah Jane in 2005, with appearances in both 'School Reunion' and a pilot for the show that would introduce her to a whole new generation of fans; The Sarah Jane Adventures. The show was an instant success, and ran for 4 series' until Lis' death.

May all of us at the Nerdsphere convey our sympathies to Lis' family and friends at this time.

Rest In Peace Lis.

Help us bring Geoff Senior to AA 2011

Transformers fans... Unite!

... yeah, that's the saddest thing I've ever said, but I enjoyed it dammit!

Here's the deal - Auto Assembly 2011, an awful lot of us intend to be sat in the bar (often!) waiting for our guests to sketch us some amazing artwork. So why not add another awesome artist to the line up?

We already have the Soul Man himself, Simon Williams, whose fantastic modern take on Death's Head is currently gracing Marvel Heroes... now we want to complete the circle by bringing along Geoff Senior, the artist who started it all back in the day! But to do this, we need your help!

If you'd like the chance to get a piece of artwork from the artist who killed Shockwave, please click the link and donate whatever you can to our appeal; even a couple of Shanix will go a long way, yes?

If you can spread the word to a website you frequent, please help us this way.

Thanks to Billy Edwards for this post on Facebook and DUH_PREZ the author of the original post @ THE TRANSFORMERS.NET
