Back to the Eighties - When the Music Stops: G.I. Joe

This week sees a trio of G.I. Joe stories heading your way, all courtesy of our old friends at Kid Stuff! Anyone who has ever heard their Transformers stories will know what to expect here, so don't get your hopes up; their G.I. Joe stuff isn't much better, if at all better.

Still there's three stories to choose from, so I'm hoping quantity trumps quality this time around. They're certainly weird enough to get entertainment value out of, if nothing else.

The three stories are: The Captive City, The Deadly Satellite and Challenge of the Clones. Enjoy, and YO JOE!

RCP Vs FF - Episode 102: 'The Fact Your Emo, Makes You Emo!'

So me and Dying English are back reading this Code Lyoko zombie fanfic, yeap it's still the same one from episodes 98 and 99.

Dying English loses his temper a few times with the fanfic and before you ask no Jeremy isn't a zombie in this chapter. I'm just running out of Code Lyoko zombie images.

Back to the Eighties - When the Music Stops: Transformers - The Special Teams

Boy, do we have a treat for you this week. ONLY available in the UK using Robot Points, The Special Teams is a definite curio. Yes, it's nothing but a glorified advert for the combining Transformers of 1986, but it's unique in the fact that it casually steals bits of continuity from all the G1 stories that were happening at the time, including the comic and cartoon.

It's also narrated by Don Henderson of 'Bulman' fame. He was in Star Wars, you know.

RCP - Episode 160: 'He's Behind You!'

Fun fact, this movie is called 'Paranormal Entity 4: The Awakening' over here in the UK. Why I hear you ask?

....

No clue sadly however that doesn't stop us from enjoying it or in Static Rifts case hating it.

Back to the Eighties - Episode 137

It's the Toy Fair episode of BTTE, so Glenn, Phil and Jii have a lot of news to go through this week - so much so, that they don't actually get to fit it all in this week!

What we DO have is a spotlight on the Hanna-Barbera take on Godzilla, an ad break with an extra special bonus, and a question that brings some very interesting and unexpected answers. Lead on, Macduff!

We'd also like to wish Becca a very speedy recovery, as she's not well. Get well soon, Becca!

Stardub - Episode 50: A Half Century of Half-Wittery

Right, we've reached the Nifty Fifties and Marvel style we've returned to the original numbering!

This episode sees our still medicated Ralph, inflict another Turnbull Taste Challenge on Andy, it's Easter-related and looks to Ralph like and engorged penis.  What can it be?

We dissect Sapphire and Steel Episode One and a heated debate ensues but don't worry gentle listener, friendship is restored as our two pop-culture cenobites pour over the fine, fine publication "Your Chickens".

Oh, and it's the last outing for the Stardub 2.0 theme tune, or Vincent Price's The Saint theme tune, as it is more accurately known.  Shed a tear people, shed a tear.

Back to the Eighties - Episode 136

It's special guest time at BTTE Towers, and this time it's the turn of specialist collector's store All the Cool Stuff owner, one of the guys in charge of the Roll Out Roll Call convention, and all round nice guy, Dave Tree! Dave has a lot of interesting things to talk about, not only because he's a fan of most things 80's, but also because he has a unique perspective of the toy world, being a store owner. He is a must!

Also this week: Glenn, Phil, Becca and Dave discuss your thoughts and feelings of TMNT 2: The Secret of the Ooze, and we trawl the depths of the News Pipe in search of all the tasty morsels of new this week. Back to the Eighties - When the Music Stops: Batman - The Warhawk

This week's tale of derring-do (about half eleven, sir) comes from 1989, and is again from Ladybird, who seem to have made a good living in the 80s by making some awesome readalong books. In this tale, the Penguin makes off with a government super-plane (think Firefox), and of course, there's only one man in the world who can stop him - the Dark Knight himself!

Top Tip: listen out for the great music bookending this one, in the style of Prince's 'Batdance', but not - if you see what I mean.

Back to the Eighties - Episode 135

Hark! A new podcaster appears! Yes folks, there's a new addition to the BTTE team, in the shape of Becca aka Metrodoxy! Please make her feel welcome, and treat her as you'd treat Glenn, Phil and Jii. In fact, scrub that, treat her nicely!

This week's show sees Becca join the guys as Phil regails us with a spotlight of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: The Secret of the Ooze, followed by some news - and as there's been a week's hiatus, there's plenty of it about. So much, in fact, that we've had to hold some off until next week, you lucky people.

Also: we find out which 80s theme tunes rock the team's boat. Yes, team. We have a team now. Like the Avengers. But nerdier.

Shut Up and Watch This! - Episode 77: Dredd (Commentary)

For the second part of out two part show, as Timey, Andrew Turnbull, Simon "Silverbolt" Skey and Dr. Mellski take a look at the 2012 movie incarnation of Dredd, and Timey continues to prove why Karl Urban is a much better Judge than Sylvester Stallone.... not that he needed to do much proving, in all honesty.

No movie poster this time around, but a big thank you to UK comic book artist Simon Williams for the exclusive Judge Dredd artwork shown here.

(Another interesting note: Timey deliberately chose to make the Dredd commentary episode 77 of the podcast because the Judge Dredd comic strip started in 1977! Clever, huh?)
