Back to the Eighties - When The Music Stops: Transformers - Attack of the Decepticons

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Marvel at the adventures of the Kid Stuff Transformers, as Optimus Prime, Prowl, Megatron and Soundwave sit idly and watch action going on, and describe that action to you. Listen in wonder as Optimus Prime discusses the morality of combat in the most tedious way possible, before going back to not doing anything at all.

Oh yes, people. This is the good stuff. After this, the Ladybird audios will have never sounded so sweet.

RCP - Episode 168: 'No one told me it was shit when they gave me the cheque'

Thankfully Uncle X was kind enough to join me to discuss this bizzare cult movie. Yeah we went off-topic a lot in this episode, including the discussion of 'just because it's a cult movie does that automatically make it good?'.

NOTE: This interview was recorded during Slagacon 2012 but due to technical difficulties we've been unable to release it until now.

He was He-Man, he was Man-At-Arms, he was lots of different characters in Bucky O'Hare, he was the Russian General in Stargate SG-1 and he also played both a Monkey and a Truck in the Transformers franchise! He's Gary Chalk! And he faces a grilling by our roving reporter Owen Slaughter.

Stardub - Episode 54: Free The Portland Bill Two!!!

It’s our third episode without Ralph, but fear not his ghost permeates the podcast. What? I totally didn’t kill him, how many times do I have to say this? He will return in our hour of need, like Optimus Prime but without the robot bits, but right now we have another Stunt-Ralph.

We welcome friend of the podcast JiiDee, who I managed to pry away from the Back To The Eighties team for a few hours to talk about stopmotion animation and in particular Portland Bill, as well as finding out what fresh hell he plans on visiting upon the absent Ralph.

Now gentle listener you must go to Abbey Home Media - http://www.abbeyhomemedia.com/contact and politely email as Jii requested to to ask them if they will release the last two episodes of Portland Bill on DVD or Blu -Ray.

Here is their email address - contact@abbeyhomemedia.com

Or write a real actual letter on paper and send it to – Hello Abbey Home Media, 435-437 Edgware Road, London W2 1TH, UK

You will earn the undying gratitude of the Stardub team, which of course is what you all strive for.

Super Saturday Radioplay: Superman On Trial

In this week's offering and in light on Superman's 75th Anniversary, we rewind the clock back to 1988, and to the Man of Steel's 50th year. An original story written and directed by Dirk Maggs, this was the BBC's first foray into the Superman mythos, and they place the entire franchise on trial (Something the BBC was very good at in the late 80s....but I digress). Anyway, back to the plot: Ganthet (From the Green Lantern comics) is the judge, set in the Phantom Zone, and calls upon witnesses from both the fictional world and the "Real World" (Like Adam West and artist Dave Gibbons). Representing the defence is Lois Lane, and the prosecution is presented by Lex Luthor. Will Lois succeed in clearing Clark Kent's name, or will Lex subject Superman to the ultimate fate? Stay tuned to find out.

Back to the Eighties - Episode 146

This week's bumper episode features a certain Mr D Tree, who you may or may not know has been to Joecon recently. So we'll be having a good, long 4-hour conversation about that trip, All the Cool Stuff, Roll Out Roll Call 2013, his thoughts on GI Joe: Retaliation, and life in general!

We also have all the news that matters of our favourite franchises, and sadly say goodbye to one of the hosts of the podcast, as they move on to pastures new! (Good Luck, Brian!)

NB: The homework this week has been put on hold, so you have another whole week to complete it! Use your extension wisely kids!

Back to the Eighties - When the Music Stops: Challenge of the Gobots: Collision Course Comet

Yes folks, When the Music Stops is back, and this time we're bringing you a doozy! All the way circa 1986, it's a tale of cosmic intrigue as the Guardians take on the Rengades with no less than Halley's Comet at stake!

That's Halley's pronounced 'Hal-lees'. Not 'Haw-lees' like you're apparently you're supposed to today. Tsk.

Super Saturday Radioplay: Judge Dredd - The Apocalypse War

In this week's installment, I offer you the second and last of Dirk Maggs / BBC Radio 1's Judge Dredd audio adaptations. For a bit of background, read the blog entry on The Day the Law Died (The first serial). Included as an easter egg are a few TV commercials (Mostly from the 1990s, but includes the original TV spot for issue 1 of 2000ad, way back from 1977!) Enjoy!

Back to the Eighties - Episode 145

Lots to talk about this week. Glenn's back, Becca's absent. Margaret Thatcher died, Glenn saw GI Joe: Retaliation and wants to talk about it, at length (so SPOILER WARNING if you haven't seen it yet).

After that though, things get a little less hectic and a whole lot more charming, as Jii spotlights the classic kid's TV show BERTHA!

As for the news: Joecon, Joecon, Joecon. Yep, that was last weekend, so lots of Joe news this week! (Hopefully we'll be having Dave Tree at BTTE Towers again soon to report on how that went this year, as he was lucky enough to attend). There's also a smidgin of Masters news, and a sliver of Turtles, as well as Thundercats and Transformers!

All in all, a very packed show this week. Bon Appetit!

Mikey Reviews: Fisher Price Imaginext Dinosaurs Raptor

Okaaaaaaaaaaay........

Announcement: Nerdsphere 3.0 is coming...

Hello people, this is Timey, the Mad Idiot in Charge. Over the past few days, we have had problems with our servers on the forum. Because of these problems, our webhost, Madmooseforums, will be closing the forum on the 19th April. Is this the end? Hell no. This coming friday (12th April), we will be launching a brand new forum on a new webhost, with exciting new features including full Social Media Log In, interaction and a Shoutbox to chat with. All the current podcasts are being archived into the new site right now. I'm also going to look into linking things to our Youtube reviewers, making this a full "Nerdsphere Network" in more ways than one. We're still developing the forum, so a launch here and now just isn't possible, but Madmoose's foul up has actually worked well in our favour. I'm truly sorry that this means we're basically starting at ground zero, but I hope to see every one of our posters and listeners on the new site, and maybe even a few new faces too. I would like to thank Andrew Turnbull, Grufflock, Mellski and Nemesis Scourge for their help over the last few hours. We're not done yet, but I guarantee you that when were done, there will be a website that even your grandmothers would be proud of. I'll be contacting the podcasters within the hour to begin a full migration onto the new site. I'll be providing a link to the new forum on launch day, and this blog will be connected likewise. The old forum will still be in place for a week until it's eventual shutdown. Until then, it's business as usual, so feel free to continue to post there. As a teaser, we have already changed our logo on the blog to that of the new forum. Hope you like. Big thank you to KhaosEnvy for the new banner. Again, sorry for all this, but needs must. Blame technology. It's all gonna get bigger and better from here on in!

Stardub - Episode 53: Wonder Who-Man!!!

Right, the first living and breathing Stunt Ralph takes his place alongside Andy for your irregularly scheduled Stardub podcast installment.

We welcome Kaptain Karl Thurgood to the show (as he was the very, very first Stunt Ralph - waay back in our Eurovision special a few years back) and we subject him to the failed Wonder Woman pilot of a few years ago, before moving on to some quality with the first episode of the latest series of Doctor Who.

It's been out a week so twitter, facebook and every other inconsiderate bawbag should have spoiled it for you so don't complain at us!

HERE or via the iTunes.

Super Saturday Radioplay: Independence Day UK

It's that time again. Time for another Dirk Maggs' produced radioplay! Getting special permission to adapt a summer blockbuster movie (So long as nothing of the movie's script was used), Maggs made a version that was set in the UK, using the same method Orson Welles used for his War of the Worlds adaptation. It was set in real time, and was aired straight after the UK Top 40 chartshow on Sunday night (with DJ Mark Goodier even feeding into the "Live broadcast" between shows). Among the cast is Sir Patrick Moore, (playing himself) and Sixth Doctor actor Colin Baker. Like most of Maggs' Radio 1 offerings, this is no longer commercially available, but is presented here in it's entirety for your listening pleasure. Enjoy!
